چکیده مقاله
The primary natural polyphenol in the rhizome of Curcuma longa turmeric is curcumin diferuloylmethane , a traditional Asian medicine with therapeutic properties In addition to its use as a food color and as a food supplement, curcumin is well known for its medicinal and therapeutic properties, which include antioxidant, anti inflammatory, anti cancer, antimicrobial, anticarcinogenic, cardioprotective, and neuroprotective effects, as well as its bright yellow orange pigments Curcumin's low oral bioavailability, poor absorption, rapid metabolism and rapid elimination have been identified as major issues due to the fact that it has not yet been approved as a therapeutic agent, despite its numerous health benefits for human diseases Utilizing nanocarriers as drug targeted systems nanoformulations as a means of enhancing curcumin's biopharmaceutical properties has been investigated in many studies Although, targeted drug delivery of curcumin as a smart system has not been well explored yet and need more studies to achieve improved biopharmaceutical properties This review provides an overview of commonly studied nanoparticle including Solid lipid nanoparticles , Nanosuspensions, Nanoemulsions, Hydrogel / Nanogels nanoparticles, Phospholipid complex, Liposomes, Polymeric Micelles, Dendrimers and Magnetic nanoparticle with the aim of targeted delivery systems for curcumin as a highly hydrophobic agent
