This paper is going to be about the smart grids and the benefits that this new technology offers To understand it well, it is necessary to know the components of the electric grid Also Smart meters are going to be carefully studied How they work, the different parts of a Smart Meter or how the signal is processed are some of the questions answered Furthermore, the current situation of this technology and how it is being developed in Europe Sweden and Spain especially is studied in this paper
