چکیده مقاله
This study aims at identifying the major determinants that affect the flow of tourists to Iran and Australia, two coastal countries with distinct geography and culture In this study using the World Bank data from 1995 to 2020 and applying the autoregressive distributed lag ARDL econometric model, the most important factors that affect the arrivals of international tourists in both countries are measured for the short and long run including tourism revenue exchange rate, transportation cost, economic growth, tourism revenue, and domestic capital formation The findings of the study reveal that while exchange rate and economic growth are the most important factors that affect the arrival of international tourists to Australia, tourism revenue and capital formation are the most important factors that affect the arrival of international tourists to Iran This study therefore recommends that Iran should learn from Australia's coastal tourism development and implement strategies that will enable it to tap into its potential and offer opportunities for economic growth and employment in the coastal areas
