High Impedance Faults HIFs are usually happens with electric arc, which results in several harmonic components in fault current waveforms This paper analysis harmonics of HIF current, which can be used for HIF detection First, arc models are introduced for both symmetric and asymmetric fault currents Next, magnitude of harmonic components for symmetric HIF current are derived, for different ignition voltages Finally, simulation results are obtained for both symmetric and asymmetric HIF, using Matlab The simulation results present the HIF currents components up to 100th harmonic
