Planning for expansion of transmission lines is one of the most important parts of power system design that should determine the optimal network configuration on the basis of anticipated growth of the network load In fact, reconfiguration of the network should be done in a way that addition of new transmission lines are economical while enhancing the network reliability This article deals with optimization of transmission network expansion of power systems using the genetic algorithm
