Calculation of Forming Limit Diagrams

Forming Limit Diagrams FLDs are calculated based on analyses proposed by Jones and Gillis They idealized the sheet metal deformation into three phases: Ι homogeneous deformation up to maximum load, ΙΙ deformation localization under constant load, and ΙΙΙ local necking with a precipitous drop in load In the current analysis, Hill’s quadratic flow law for sheets having planar isotropy is used in conjunction with the three stage deformation approximation Calculated FLDs are compared with experimentally determined result for interstitial free IF sheet
