In this research, effect of hot extrusion process on tensile properties and fracture mechanism of Al/SiC composites was investigated The composite ingots were fabricated by stir casting and were extruded at 500 C at a ram speed of 1mm/s and at the extrusion ratio of 18:1 The extruded samples exhibited improved mechanical properties in comparison with the as cast ones The as cast specimens comprised of cracking of the SiC particle clusters leading to brittle fracture, whereas the extruded samples showed some ductility
