The feasibility of friction stir welding has been studied on polypropylene sheets The experiments have been designed with taguchi method The joint strength has been analyzed based on three parameters of translation speed, rotation speed and geometry of the tool The optimum welding condition has been determined through a statistical analysis It has been demonstrated that tool geometry has an important role in the seam brittleness due to the material flow during welding
