Nowadays laser material processing has an effective rule in the manufacturing processes for instance, laser welding, laser cutting, laser engraving, laser additive manufacturing, etc the laser treatment is one of a suitable application for improving the surface mechanical and tribological properties such as microhardness and corrosion behavior In the present work, the laser surface treatment conducted by using a Fiber and Nd:YAG lasers that are industrial lasers to evaluate the micro hardness behavior of 316L stainless steel Based on trends of micro hardness, the process variables parameters for Fiber laser were Focal plane position 80 100mm and scanning speed 1 5 mm/s whereas the laser power was considered as a constant factor 500W Also, in Nd:YAG laser the scanning speed 2 2 7 mm/s , Focal plane position 34 40 and laser power 140 150 W were input parameters Results show that the Fiber and Nd:YAG laser not suitable for 316L laser surface treatment By decreasing the scanning speed, heat input increase and lead to surface melting
