Hydrodynamic behavior of liquid sprays is of great importance in internal combustion engines, machining processes, agriculture, Pharmaceutic, medicine and industry Unsteady behavior of liquid sprays may be undesired in some applications such as jet engines during their cruise operational conditions In the present paper, an experimental investigation has been carried out for deep understanding of unsteady hydrodynamic behavior of a liquid spray due to the sharp increasing of the pressure at the upstream of the nozzle orifice A high speed camera has been used for taking experimental shots from the plume of the viscous liquid spray An image processing technique has been employed for image processing of the experimental shots Results show that sharp increasing of the injection pressure at the upstream of the nozzle orifice, while the pressure at the downstream of the orifice remains constant, has significant effect on the unsteady hydrodynamic behavior of the viscous liquid spray and enhances quality of the spray atomization
