Introduction: Nowadays, Particulate Matter PM exposure is a main problem in the regions with poor air quality PM is suspended articles in the atmosphere have a diameter less than 10 μm High amount of PM is inhaled and deposited in the human respiratory system PM is ubiquitous and as main source of microbial communities can contaminate food and water sources Also, daily high amount of PM is absorbed by human gastrointestinal tract and change human gut microbiota Establishment of the human gut microbiota during prenatal life and early life can play a basic role in the infant health situation and can be related to long term health in future Gut microbiota is involved in metabolism, immune and neuronalresponses in human In recent years, there is a lot of the studies about the role of PM exposure on gut microbiota imbalance in relevance of different human diseases Material and Methods: In this review, the focus has been on articles in human and animal model studies, limited to English language via several electronic databases such as Web of Science, Google Scholar, Scopus and PubMed Results: Recent evidences have demonstrated PM exposure can lead to dysfunction of gut microbiota via pro and anti inflammatory signals can cause immune cells dysfunction and lead to onset and progression of many disorders such as gastrointestinal and autoimmune diseases, mental disorders and cancer Conclusions: Loss of microbial balance can be as a treating human health issue So, a conclusive review is necessary to reveal the role of PM exposure during pre and postnatal life on human gut microbiota imbalance
