Friction stir welding process FSW , as a solid state joining process, is applied in order to get desirable mechanical and technological performances of the joints In addition, FSW could be used to join high strength aerospace aluminum based composites and other metallic alloys and composites that are hard to weld by other common fusion welding procedures In this research the effect of transverse velocity V , rotational rate W and also axial force on mechanical properties of friction stir welded A356 SiC composites is investigated through considering yield strength and microhardness of welded components and also by a model obtained by response surface method RSM Finally It can be concluded from the results that the higher the transverse speed and the lower the rotational rate, the more the strength of welded components is obtained Also, the axial force has an optimum value in gaining the better mechanical properties
