چکیده مقاله
A 516 steel is an important alloy due to its extensive use in pipe lines in variousindustries such as oil, gas and petrochemicals Improving the quality of the welds can beachieved by addition of reinforcing particles to the welding zone and forming acomposite welding zone Therefore, in this study, the effect of adding carbide particles TiC NbC and forming a metal matrix composite MMC in the welding zone by TIGwelding process was investigated The effect of different weight percentages of theseparticles on microstructure, mechanical behavior and corrosion resistance wasinvestigated For this purpose, welding process was conducted with a current of 120 Aand a welding speed of 1 36 mm / s on A 516 steel with a thickness of 10 mm and a 24 inch outer diameter Different weight ratios of TiC / NbC carbide particles were added inthe welding zone The microstructure of the welding zone was investigated using ascanning electron microscope Corrosion behavior was also investigated byelectrochemical polarization and EIS tests The corrosion resistance test results indicatedthat the lowest corrosion rate was obtained in 100 TN composite weld specimen composite weld containing 100% TiC carbide microparticles The addition of TiCparticles reduced the grain size and thus improved the corrosion behavior because TiCparticles have more wettability than NbC
