2209 dual phase ferritic austenitic stainless steel combines the best advantages offerritic and austenitic stainless steels The resistance to pitting and pitting corrosion iscaused by the high amounts ofwormwood and molybdenum in its chemical composition In this research, the optimization of the main coating parameters including laser power P , scanning speed S , powder feeding rate F , experimental design and prototypingand optimization of single pass filler of 2209 duplex steel on Mo40 steel substrate wasdone The results showed that the width, height, wetting angle and single pass mixinghave a linear relationship with the combined parameter P5 00V 0 76, P0 44V0 78F 1 96,P3 07V2 62F 3 38 and P3 30V1 29F 2 58, respectively Evaluation of optimal claddinghardness was done using 800W power, 13 mm/s speed and 7 mm/s feeding rate and 50%overlap Although the hardness of the cladding sample is lower than the substrate; thehardness profile of the cross section is within the permissible range for the repaircladding The hardness of the 2209 coating is up to 37 Vickers less than the Mo40substrate
