In this paper, the modeling of the weld bead geometry in the Directed Energy Deposition DED additive manufacturing process is examined using the Gas Metal Arc Welding GMAW method Given the challenges of dimensional accuracy in the production of complex metallic parts and the need to reduce production costs and time, this study utilizes a cubic model to fit the weld bead profile The weld bead geometry was extracted using image processing and the Canny algorithm, providing an accurate and effective method for geometric analysis To evaluate the performance of the cubic model, three other models such as parabolic, sinusoidal, and Gaussian were also applied to the experimental data The results showed that the cubic model, with a coefficient of determination of 0 9982, provided the best fit and demonstrated higher accuracy compared to the other models This model offers the ability to more accurately simulate the behavior of the weld bead and shows lower residual errors in predicting the weld bead profile The results indicate an improvement in accuracy in the additive manufacturing process and can be utilized for producing parts with higher quality and precision
