چکیده مقاله
The rolling method, as an effective technique for shaping metals, and explosive welding, as an efficientmethod for joining dissimilar metals, have attracted considerable attention This study examined theeffect of strain on the microstructure and hardness of the explosive joint of copper and aluminumsheets Explosive welding was performed using an explosive thickness of 13 mm and a standoffdistance of 3 mm The results showed that the wave joint between copper and aluminum consists ofvarious components During the rolling process, the joint interface is stretched and flattened, and thevortex regions become compressed Optical microscopy after rolling revealed a reduction in theamplitude of the waves With deformation during the rolling process, intermetallic compounds breakdue to their brittle nature, and the resulting vortices from explosive welding and subsequent rolling with a thickness reduction of 60% become nearly flat Microhardness testing results after rollingindicated that hardness increased due to changes in grain size, increased dislocation density, andtwinning Additionally, the copper layer exhibited a higher hardness 106 Vickers compared to thealuminum layers 1 52 Vickers , which is attributed to the differing work hardening characteristics ofaluminum and copper due to the differences in their stacking fault energy
