Implementation, Operations and Economic Evaluation of Connecting the Power Plant to the Waste Electrical Network in the Thermal and Electrical Aspects

چکیده مقاله

Renewable energy is generally defined as energy that comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human life span, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat 1 Installation of small hydro, biomass, biogas, solar power, wind power and geothermal energy sources at the small and large scales to the power system is known as distributed energy resources DERs Nowadays, disposal of municipal solid waste and using its potential for generating the energy in many countries is used as one of the environmentally and considered as one of the renewable energy sources The waste incineration plant like other renewable energy resources is one of the plants that create electrical energy based on the waste sources Incineration has particularly strong benefits for the treatment of certain waste types in niche areas such as clinical wastes and certain hazardous wastes where pathogens and toxins can be destroyed by high temperatures The technical reports as the practical case study of the waste incineration power plant to generating the electricity based on the waste materials is less than the environmental literatures The input wastes to the waste incineration plant generally is divided into wet and dry wastes 2 4 In one practical case study, the input sources for Swiss waste incineration plant are the electronic devices elements and metal materials 5 In 5 , the recovery of main wastes such as papers, metals, electrical and electronic equipment to raise the improvement resource recovery is discussed In the similar research 6 , the waste incineration of municipal solid waste MSW in Malaysia is considered Similarly, the energy analysis and environmental impacts of a MSW oxy fuel waste incineration power plant in China is stated in 7 As mentioned earlier, the waste incineration power plant connection to the power grid could be considered in thermal and electrical aspects For example, the analysis regarding the usages of different amounts of municipal biomass in the power plant is discussed in 8 The presented case study is about the thermal aspect of the waste incineration plant In contrast, the municipal waste incineration of the Norwegian based on the first low and second low efficiency of a combined heat and power plant is discussed in 9 In addition, the dynamic behavior of a waste incineration power system under output power variation is one of the last researches in Taiwan 10 The last reviewed literatures approaches are focused on the optimal sizing of biomass as DER that presented in 11 and 12 In this paper, the implementation, operation and economical assessment of waste incineration plant of Tehran as the real case study of biomass distributed energy resource is presented The waste incineration plant is located in the suburb of Tehran and it is connected to the Marashi feeder of Fashafoyeh substation The geographical position of the incineration plant is known as Kahrizak region that the nominal capacity rate of the plant is 3MW In this case study, the connected device specification data such as transformers and circuit breakers, the feeders’ configuration and loads, the technical reports such as load flow and short circuit calculations, transient stability and power quality studies is presented The detailed cycle of the biomass distributed energy resource is described In addition, the environmentalbenefits of the biomass distributed energy resource are presented, too In evaluating the economics section of the project, the investment aspects of the project are considered The rest of the paper is organized as follows: In section 2 and section 3, the case study configuration and the installed equipment specification are discussed, respectively The waste incineration plant technical studies and economical assessment are presented in section 4 and 5, respectively In section 6, the conclusion is considered
