In this article, which deals with the need for transformation in the management of Iranian cities, the problems of today’s cities in Iran are first listed, then the goals of urban management in today’s world are examined by examining the theoretical foundations in the fields of urban planning and urban management Then, how the municipalities of industrialized countries overcome their problems is discussed and it points to the measures they have taken in their management fields to improve the level of urban development and solve the problems of the cities In the continuation of the discussion, the current problems of urban management in Iran have been briefly examined Finally, these problems are compared with the theoretical foundations of urban management principles and how municipalities work in industrialized countries In conclusion, while emphasizing the specialization of urban management and the developments that should be common in this field, the need for changes in the law and organizations of urban management to improve the physical, social, and economic structure of the cities is pointed out and some suggestions are made to improve their situation
