چکیده مقاله
In this study the effect of variations of the current intensity and travel speed on the dimensions of the melted and heat affected zones of TIG surface melted and molybdenum surface alloyed samples of ADI was investigated The results implied the variations of dimensions were more susceptible to the current intensity, and also the width of the molten pool showed higher susceptibility to the increase in heat input than its depth Besides, molten pools formed by surface alloying were smaller yet deeper than surface melting Surface melting formed a ledeburitic structure in the resolidified zone with the hardness up to 985 HV, and molybdenum surface alloying resulted in formation of a structure consisting of cementite, martensite, retained austenite and Fe,Mo 3C carbides with the hardness up to 1055 HV Surface melting and molybdenum surface alloying also reduced the wear rate of the ADI up to 37% and 62% respectively
