چکیده مقاله
The tungsten inert gas TIG arc has wide applications in materials processing such as welding, cutting, and spraying There are many disadvantages for this process, such as shallow weld penetration and lower productivity The penetration capability of the arc in TIG also called GTA welding can be significantly increased by utilizing a flux coating containing active ingredients on to the joint surface prior to welding A penetration depth of 2–3 times more than that of a conventional TIG weld could be obtained by means of A TIG welding This study applies a novel variant of the autogenous TIG welding, using oxide powders SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, FeO and Cu2O The weld depth/width D/W ratio, with and without using activated fluxes was investigated using optical microscopy The hardness profile in the case of different fluxes was achieved by Vickers hardness test The results showed that the most effective flux in increasing the D/W ratio was SiO2 powder as it increases the ratio more than three times higher than that of conventional TIG method
