چکیده مقاله
Hot deformation behavior of two types, extrude and cast, samples of AA 2024 aluminum alloy was evaluated using nonisothermal hot compression tests After primary heat treatments, the samples were pre heated at 440, 460 and 480 oC and then non isothermally hot compressed under strain rate of 0 5 S 1 The pre precipitated extrude samples, due to microstructural stability show an adequate stable flow to about 45 percent strain, while the maximum strain in the homogenized and water quenched cast samples, due to flow instability, is limited to less than 30 percent The flow instability of the cast samples is attributed to their instable microstructure leading to rapid formation of the adiabatic shear bands during the hot compression
