Resorcinol, a versatile dihydroxybenzene, plays a pivotal role in various industries due to its reactivehydroxyl groups and diverse applications It is essential in synthesizing advanced materials like resorcinolformaldehyde RF polymers and carbon xerogels CXs , which are widely used in catalysis, energy storage,and environmental remediation RF polymers demonstrate excellent photocatalytic properties, while CXs,with their porous structures, serve as effective adsorbents and catalyst supports In pharmaceuticals andcosmetics, resorcinol is valued for its tyrosinase inhibitory properties, aiding in treatments forhyperpigmentation and skin conditions Industrially, it enhances adhesives, coatings, and rubber compoundsfor improved durability and performance However, resorcinol’s applications are limited by challenges suchas toxicity, environmental impact, and synthesis complexity Research continues to address these issues,focusing on sustainable methods, structural modifications, and new applications Resorcinol’s adaptabilityand functionality solidify its significance across scientific, industrial, and environmental domains
