چکیده مقاله
Urban water supply systems face significant challenges, including high non revenue water NRW , inefficient energy consumption, and a lack of real time operational data This study investigates the implementation of a modern telemetry system to enhance the efficiency and management of the water supply network in Mahmoudabad County The system was designed to provide real time monitoring and control of critical parameters, including water flow, pressure levels at key nodes, reservoir levels, and pump station statuses By deploying remote terminal units RTUs connected to a central supervisory control and data acquisition SCADA platform via a modem communication network, the utility gained unprecedented visibility into its network The results, analyzed through a before and after comparison, demonstrated substantial improvements Key outcomes included a significant reduction in NRW through rapid leak detection, optimized pump scheduling leading to marked energy savings, and improved pressure management, which extended infrastructure lifespan Furthermore, the system enhanced operational response times and customer satisfaction by minimizing service interruptions This case study concludes that a telemetry system is not merely a technological upgrade but a crucial strategic investment for achieving sustainable, efficient, and resilient urban water management, offering a replicable model for similar cities
