Background and Aim : The seed and seed pod of Trachyspermum ammi TA , have widely been used in the traditional system of medicine for centuries Nowadays, these plants and their products like aromatic water frequently prescribe as well as sale in traditional markets Despite the fact that there are some studies which have proven their beneficial effects on some medical problems like cancer, kidney stone, and etc , the safety of them has never been investigated to date Regarding aboved mentioned facts, the present study was aimed to assess the toxicological safety profile of ethanolic extract of Trachyspermum ammi TA in sub acute test based on the OECD guideline 407 on Wistar rats Methods: In this experimental study ethanolic extract of TA were orally administrated to male Wistar rats n=8, each group at the three different doses 75,150, and 300mg/kg for 28 days Finally, blood was collected for biochemical and hematological assessments, besides, histological examinations were performed on liver and kidney Results: Our result showed that TA posed significant effects in biochemical markers at the highest dose 300mg/kg Moreover, TA caused a significant elevation p=0 009 in plasma uric acid There was no significant change in liver and kidney morphology between the studied groups Conclusion: It could be concluded that high excessive and long term consumption of TA may have negative effects particularly in kidney function and hematopoietic system
