In the new patterns of urban planning and management, the implementation ofurban partnership projects has a special place and has consolidated its role as acollective activity With the increasing population of cities and the growingurbanization in Iran, comprehensive coverage of urban life, including economic,social, cultural, developmental and even political, requires the social participationof people based on informed, administrative and voluntary participation From thepoint of view of the experts, the city s popular participation is not limited to thecost of urban management; it is also appropriate for people to contribute to thedecision making process that directly affects their quality of life In this paper, we examine different patterns of participatory planning and theviewpoint governing urban planning, theories, participatory models, features ofparticipatory systems in urban planning and management Finally, the process ofpreparing the program in Iran has been analyzed with a cooperative approach
