ASTER Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and ReflectionRadiometer imagery is available since 2000 from the NASA Terrasatellite This sensor is a joint activity of NASA and the JapaneseMinistry of Economy, Trade and Industry METI The purpose of theproject is to increase the number of ASTER images available throughthe MapPlace to the exploration community in British Columbia Anumber of ASTER based products have been developed and will beprovided for all new imagery Previous projects have made 138 ASTERimages and derivative products available through the Image AnalysisToolkit IAT portion of the MapPlace Significant regions and gapsbetween existing images remain unrepresented in this database ASTERimagery with its 14 spectral bands and one back looking band provideinformation in the visible, near infrared VNIR , short wave infrared SWIR and thermal infrared TIR range of the electromagneticspectrum as well as the ability to generate stereo images
