There are several methods are available for improving the physical and mechanicalbehaviour of the soils unsuitable for construction projects These methods includecompaction, consolidation, preloading, grouting, and stabilization by adding chemicalmaterials etc Addition of waste crumb rubber for reinforcing the soils is an appropriatemethod for improving the strength and bearing capacity of the soils In addition to theimprovement of soil engineering properties, the addition of waste crumb rubber is ameasure for the protection of environment In this study, the shear strength parameters ofthe Kaolinite clay, as the control material, and the Kaolinite clay reinforced by differentpercentages of two different types of crumb rubber content have been evaluated Theconsolidated drained CD and unconsolidated undrained UU triaxial tests have beenconducted on the control and crumb rubber reinforced soils
