Understanding the behavior of underground structures and their impact on ground settlement iscrucial for safe and efficient construction projects This study employs finite element analysis usingPlaxis software to simulate underground station construction under three soil constitutive models:Mohr Coulomb MC , Hardening Soil HS , and Hardening Soil with Small Strain HSS Ourfindings reveal significant differences in the forces induced within the final structure across the threemodels The Mohr Coulomb model exhibited higher forces, attributed to its failure to account forchanges in soil stiffness during loading and unloading, and its independence from stress levels forstiffness Moreover, settlement and displacement values derived from the hardening soil andhardening soil with small strain models were more realistic compared to the Mohr Coulomb model,consistent with existing research Notably, in excavations with substantial soil disturbance, both HSand HSS models yielded similar outcomes Practically, our study recommends the utilization of theHS model for large scale excavation projects due to its computational efficiency, particularly forendeavors like subway constructions These insights contribute to enhancing the reliability and safetyof underground construction practices
