Osteoporosis is a diabetes condition, in which patients suffer from loss of bone mass, resulting in attenuated bone strength and risk of fracture Bone defects due to osteoporosis have become a great challenge for healthcare system Given increasing burden of diabetes and osteoporosis the demand for therapeutic agents for improvement of bone health is also increasing The use of herbal pharmaceutical active compounds could be a promising strategy for bone regenerative medicine Salviae Miltiorrhizae extracts are pharmaceutically active compounds, which can serve as potential osteoprotective agents in diabetic patients This study summarizes the function of these water soluble and lipophilic derivatives in promoting bone health and highlights their applications to reduce osteoporosis and promote bone remodeling
