Iron chelation therapy CT improves survival in thalassemia major, but its effects on survival in patients are unclear Iron chelation therapy ICT is essential to prevent the complications of iron overload in patients with transfusion dependent thalassemia The aim of this study was to investigate biochemical and hematological factors as an alternative and indirect study of iron deposition in the heart and myocardial cells compared to T2 MRI results MRI T2 was examined in heart and liver tissue of 62 beta thalassemia major patients who were subjected to regular injection and chelator treatment Serum ferritin based on MRI T2 had a positive and significant correlation with siderosis, and no significant relationship was observed with cardiac siderosis According to MRI T2 , there was no significant relationship between heart and liver iron overload More future research is recommended for early diagnosis in order to detect and treat in time and predict the negative effects of iron overload in these patients
