Two MIL metal organic framework materials with high stability were utilized as catalysts in the selective oxidation of 5 hydroxymethylfurfural HMF to 2,5 diformylfuran DFF with tert butylhydroperoxide 70% aqueous as an oxidant in acetonitrile MIL100 Fe exhibits more conversion 58% comparing to MIL101 Fe under the same conditions It appears that this specific material would open up a new pathway for MOFs towards the mentioned catalytic oxidation DFF is a key chemical and can be used in organic synthesis and functional polymer manufacture
