چکیده مقاله
In this research, Silica films were applied on carbon steel by using dip coating technique Tetraethoxysilane TEOS has been used as an organic precursor and the synthesis parameters such as Thermally treatment, Withdrawal rate, Molar ratio r of H2O/TEOS, and Aging time were used for providing the sol gel coating layer The obtained corrosion resistance of the coatings evaluated by weight loss measurement through Corrosion Rate CR Equation This research was applied to achieve the optimized parameters for efficient corrosion protective coatings, herein by comparison of the result from corrosion rates we notice that the 100 to 200 percent improvement of corrosion resistance against bare ones at the same period of immersion in NaCl solution The samples with optimized parameters presented the ascending corrosion resistance from 0 274 mm/yr to 0 124 mm/yr This performance of the silica based coatings by sol gel method that presented in this work show its suitability for anticorrosive coating applications to protect metal alloys against corrosion
