چکیده مقاله
Nowadays, one of the main environmental problems is the contamination of water sources by organic dyes like Congo Red, which come from the food, plastic, textile, and pharmaceutical industries Among the different methods that have been used so far to remove these toxic compounds, adsorption has attracted more attention due to its simplicity, cost effectiveness, and high efficiency A key aspect of the adsorption process is the adsorbent material Meanwhile, bio sorbents such as bacterial cellulose have received much attention due to their easy access, biodegradability, biocompatibility, renewability, and the advantage of surface modification The aim of this research is the adsorptive removal of Congo Red dye using bacterial cellulose as a biosorbent Investigating the effect of operational parameters such as adsorbent shape, pH, temperature, dye concentration, and adsorbent dose shows that crushed bacterial cellulose with a dose of 1500 mg/l at pH 5 and 25 °C can adsorb Congo Red from a 20 ml solution with a dye concentration of 25 mg/l with a removal efficiency of 92% in 240 minutes The adsorption capacity in this condition is 15 33 mg dye/g BC To characterize the adsorbent and investigate the bonds and functional groups, FTIR analysis was performed before and after the adsorption process
