چکیده مقاله
Pile foundations are widely designed to support superstructures in seismic areas Therefore, piles need to keep their structural integrity under dynamic forces, particularly bending moments This study investigates the seismic behavior of clayey soil pile systems by evaluating soil pile group interaction through three dimensional numerical modeling using a finite difference method FDM A series of nonlinear dynamic analyses was conducted under a low frequency seismic load in the time domain The soil is assumed to be both soft and stiff clay separately, and the site effect during the propagation of the earthquake from the bedrock was considered This study discusses the impact of pile group configurations 2×2, 3×3, and 4×2 on seismic response compared to single piles by introducing the novel parameter, Seismic Kinematic Efficiency coefficient SKE The results indicate that under low frequency seismic excitation, soft clay soils generate significantly higher bending moments In contrast, pile groups demonstrate more efficient bending moments, with SKE values around 1 For stiff clay, however, the SKE value falls below 1, indicating that the performance of pile groups is less efficient These findings propose valuable insights for optimizing pile configurations in seismic design
