چکیده مقاله
This study investigates the spatial correlation between key water quality parameters and odor intensity in an urban runoff canal, aiming to provide insights for effective management strategies Weekly field data was collected along the Ghiasvand Canal in Tehran, Iran, covering a comprehensive set of water quality indicators, including electrical conductivity EC , total dissolved solids TDS , salinity, electrical resistance, water temperature, and dissolved oxygen DO Additionally, meteorological data, such as wind speed, air temperature, and relative humidity, were collected from a nearby synoptic station Odor emission was measured using a portable odor meter Probability density distribution, violin plots, and correlation analyses revealed significant relationships between odor intensity and several key parameters, including DO, water temperature, air temperature, EC, TDS, and salinity Notably, odor intensity showed a negative correlation with DO, while positive correlations were observed with water temperature, air temperature, EC, TDS, and salinity Furthermore, spatial variations of these parameters along the canal were analyzed using water quality zoning maps, providing valuable insights into localized pollution patterns These findings highlight the critical importance of monitoring odor pollution in urban waterways to inform effective management strategies and protect both public health and the environment
