چکیده مقاله
This study investigates the Willingness to Choose an Alternative Commute Pattern WCACP involving increased walking time among urban commuters in Rasht, Iran The research focuses on how WCACP is influenced by current commute modes and individual or household characteristics, and whether these effects differ between commuters with one work tour and those with two work tours per day Data were collected from 445 respondents through a field survey, and separate binary logistic models were developed for each group Results show that commute mode significantly affects WCACP Among one tour commuters, those using shared taxis or combining walking with shared taxis were more likely to choose the walking intensive alternative, while kiss and ride users were less likely For two tour commuters, only shared taxi users showed a significant difference compared to car drivers The difference in walking time between the current and alternative patterns was found to negatively impact willingness but only for one tour commuters These findings highlight the importance of considering commute structure in promoting active commuting and suggest that walking related policies should be tailored to different commuter types
