The critics of the model developed for the performance prediction of sand filter using Chi square distribution as probability distribution is summarized Two criteria have been used for the performance prediction of filter , one is effluent quality criteria and other is head loss criteria Based on the data generated in the laboratory on sand filter, the developed models were used but the models do not seem too compatible for the performance predicition of sand filter of any configuration Hence an attempt has been taken to develop a new model for the performance prediction of sand filter of any configuration
