In this paper, particle Swarm Optimization PSO algorithm is used for reservoir operation While many evolutionary computation techniques have developed for combinatorial optimization problem, PSO has been basically developed for continuous optimization problem, based on the background of artificial life and psychological research PSO is inherently some distributed algorithms, in which the solution for a problem emerges from the interactions between many simple individuals called particles The efficiency of the PSO algorithm is test against some benchmark functions optimization problem and then method is applied to a problem in the reservoir operation discipline the results indicate the efficiency of the PSO algorithm
