چکیده مقاله
The widespread use of reclaimed wastewater in agriculture is a crucial approach to addressing water scarcity caused by climate change However, this practice raises concerns about the accumulation of endocrine disrupting compounds EDCs , particularly alkylphenols APS , in soil and their potential risks to human health This study examines the presence and accumulation of 4 Nonylphenol 4 NP and 4 tert Octylphenol 4 t OP in both secondary treated wastewater STW and agricultural soil that has been irrigated with wastewater for nearly four decades The results reveal a notable buildup of APS in irrigated soil compared to non irrigated areas, highlighting prolonged contamination The concentration of 4 NP in soil ranged from 5 33 to 89 0 mg/kg dry weight dw , while 4 t OP was detected at levels up to 0 2643 mg/kg dw In wastewater, 4 NP concentrations varied between 0 42 and 14 61 ug/L, whereas 4 t OP ranged from 0 0127 to 0 0635 µg/L These findings emphasize the necessity of stringent monitoring and regulatory measures to minimize the environmental and health risks associated with long term wastewater irrigation
