چکیده مقاله
Damping amplification through mass and stiffness isolation offers an effective strategy in modern seismic design This method separates a structure into two distinct subsystems: a high stiffness subsystem responsible for resisting lateral loads and a low stiffness, high mass subsystem mainly supporting gravity loads Connected by strategically placed interface dampers only in some specific stories, the large difference in natural frequencies between these subsystems facilitates substantial relative movements, potentially reducing the demand for high capacity dampers Recent research introduces an innovative and cost effective damping enhancement technique utilizing a displacement based adjustable nonlinear viscous damper DBAND conceptually, where the nonlinearity depends on relative displacement rather than velocity Nonlinear time history analyses show the effectiveness of this system, demonstrating a substantial reduction in dynamic response compared to conventional code compliant dual structural systems
