چکیده مقاله
This study investigates peak inflow estimation for 12 dams in Iran, a critical aspect for ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of these vital water infrastructure assets After rigorous data pre processing, including outlier detection, trend analysis, and homogeneity checks, the best fitting probability distributions for annual peak inflows were identified using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test The study then estimated peak inflows and probable inflow volumes for return periods ranging from 5 to 1,000 years, considering a range of peak durations based on catchments' area The results, visualized in P P plots, demonstrate a strong agreement between empirical and theoretical distributions, validating the chosen probabilistic approach Furthermore, the calculated IPI values for higher return periods can be assumed as inflow design flood for subsequent risk assessment research The estimated range of peak inflow volumes provides valuable information for dam operators to assess potential flood risks, optimize reservoir operations, enhance dam safety, and assess the adequacy of existing spillway capacities
