چکیده مقاله
The transition to renewable energy has intensified the exploration of sustainable heating and cooling energy systems, with energy tunnels emerging as innovative dual purpose structures within underground infrastructures Their extensive ground contact area and dual heat transfer mechanisms ground and internal air distinguish them from other energy geo structures This review investigates principles of design and research advances in energy tunnels, which combine shallow geothermal systems by embedding heat exchanger pipes into tunnel linings The thermo hydro mechanical THM behavior of energy tunnels is examined, emphasizing the effective parameters of thermal performance Recent advancements in numerical modeling and laboratory techniques have enabled better assessments of behavior under coupled thermal, hydraulic, and mechanical loads, while field measurements validate their efficiency in real world applications, such as urban metros and deep mountain tunnels However, challenges exist in ground conditions and mitigating long term mechanical impacts Identified research gaps include the need for standardized design frameworks, cost benefit analyses in heterogeneous geotechnical conditions, and improved predictive models for unsaturated soils Focusing on these gaps will advance energy tunnels as a solution for sustainable urban energy systems, as a renewable energy source with resilient infrastructure development
