چکیده مقاله
Water management remains a critical bottleneck for the commercialization of high performance polymer Electrolyte Membrane PEM FUEL Cells This study develops a comprehensive, non isothermal, three dimensional numerical model to investigate the synergistic effects of flow field geomentry and gas diffusion layer GDL surface properties on two phase flow dynamics By implementing a Volume of Fluid VOF approach, the liquid water transport and oxygen transport resistance were analyzed under diverse operating conditions, The results demonstrate that a tapered flow channel design siqnificantly enhances reactant distribution and mitigates cathode flooding Particularly at high current densities exceeding ۱ ۵ A/cm۲ Furthermore, optimizing the GDL contact angle to a highly hydrophobic state ۱۴۰۰ resulted in a ۱۵% increase in peak power density and a substantial reduction in mass transport losses These findings for developing next generation PEMFCs with superior power output and enhanced operational stability
