چکیده مقاله
The aim of this study was to extract the extract from the safflower plant Carthamus tinctorius L and investigate its efficiency as a natural ultraviolet absorber with the possibility of application in the formulation of sunscreen products For this purpose, first, extraction and separation of flavonoids was performed using ethyl acetate solvent The results of spectroscopic tests showed that the ethyl acetate extract of safflower has significant absorption in the UV A and UV B regions UV Vis spectroscopy was performed in the range of 190 490 nm for three different concentrations and, based on the standard method for determining SPF from diluted solutions, the SPF value was calculated to be about 4 09 Also, using the transfer adhesive method, which creates conditions closer to the skin surface, the SPF value of the formulated sample at a surface density of 2 mg/cm² was determined to be 4 95 Next, a stick formulation containing safflower extract was prepared and its consistency, dispersion uniformity, and stability were evaluated, and the selected formula had appropriate stability and desirable spreadability The results indicate that safflower extract can be used as a natural UV absorber with a moderate protective effect in the formulation of skin care products Although the resulting SPF value is lower than the range required for moderate to high protection, the ability to combine this extract with chemical and physical filters provides the potential for developing more natural and safer sunscreen products
