Municipal solid waste management is a critical aspect of sustainable urban development, requiring the integration of environmental, economic, and technical considerations This study focuses on evaluating the waste management system in the city of Tabriz using Life Cycle Assessment LCA and the IWM 1 model The study analyzes the environmental impacts of three key scenarios: recycling, composting, and incineration, considering factors such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and toxic emissions The results highlight that Scenario 4, which prioritizes composting and optimized waste transportation, demonstrates the lowest environmental burden with an aggregated impact index of It=1 16I_t = 1 16It=1 16 Normalization and weighting methodologies, including MET, were employed to assess the significance of each impact category Key findings emphasize the importance of improving organic waste management and adopting LCA based decision making tools to enhance environmental sustainability in waste management systems This comprehensive assessment provides a robust framework for optimizing waste management strategies in urban settings
