The metaverse represents a rapidly evolving digital environment where users can interact, create, and engage with immersive content through avatars in virtual worlds As these spaces grow in influence, new human rights challenges arise This article explores the application of a human rights framework to the rights of metaverse users, focusing on issues such as privacy, freedom of expression, equality, and protection from digital harms The analysis draws from international human rights instruments, academic literature, and legal documents to propose guidelines for protecting users' rights in the metaverse The article argues that existing human rights frameworks, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights UDHR and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights ICCPR , must be adapted to address the unique concerns raised by the metaverse
