In telecommunication systems, inter symbol interference ISI increase the bit error rate BER Adaptive Equalizer is one of the ways to reduce the effect of interference between symbols Adaptivealgorithms should be selected which have good ability to track changes and low computational complexity In this paper, the variable step size set membership algorithm VSS SM NSAF is presented In the proposed algorithm, a separate step size is allocated to each subband to minimize the mean square error MSE and the mean square deviation MSD of at each step of the iteration and adaption The simulation results show the good performance of the proposed algorithm at a high convergence rate and low level of mean square error MSE and symbol error rate SER in the signal to noise ratio SNR Also, this paper compares the computational complexity of the proposed algorithm with NSAF and SMNSAF, Which demonstrates the low computational complexity of the algorithm proposed compared to other algorithms in the application of equalizer
