Vehicles lane changing has a substantial effect on the traffic flow characteristics such as speed, volume, and safety So it’s modeling in traffic simulation packages is so important Most of the studies in the lane changing context have focused on decision making in the process of a lane change action and have assumed it as an instantaneous action, which makes the result of the simulations unreliable Previous studies have mentioned that, the average time of lane changing is between 5 6 second And duo to the fact, that, drivers in different regions have different driving behaviors, we proposed a particular lane changing duration model for Iranian passenger cars In this research, we extracted detailed vehicle trajectory data from an urban highway in Tehran, by mounting a camera on a high rise bridge Then, we investigated lane changing behavior of drivers and factors that affect the lane changing duration
