چکیده مقاله
Residual stresses were produced in the weldments due to mismatching and un even distributions of non elastic strains In this paper, the effects of weld lengths and groove configurations on the residual stresses distributions were considered Threedimensional thermo mechanical constitutive equations were used to describe the behavior of the plates Simulation results were compared with the X ray diffraction measurements The results showed that in the central region, the peak transverse tensile residual stresses decreased with the weld length and the peak longitudinal tensile residual stresses increased with the weld length In addition, the simulation results predicted that residual stress distributions depended on the shape of the groove The peak of the tensile residual stress obtained for the U groove configurations was less than that calculated for the V groove configurations In additions, of those V grooves investigated, the minimum tensile residual stress was obtained for the 50 degrees V groove configuration
