The optical microscope has been used for microstructure investigation, electrochemicalimpedance spectroscopy test for corrosion investigations, and hardness testing formechanical properties This article investigated the effect of tool rotation speed, tooltraveling speed, and the number of passes in the friction stir process FSP on themicrostructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance of grade 2 titanium alloy First, at a fixed and relatively high speed, different tool rotation speeds were applied,then low tool speed was applied, and finally, the effect of the number of passes was alsoinvestigated The results show that the corrosion behavior varies at different conditions,the grain size decreases significantly, and a threefold increase in the surface hardness wasnoticeable for the sample with the highest tool travel speed and the highest tool rotationspeed In general, despite the dependence of corrosion resistance on grain size numberand grain size distribution, the same electrical equivalent circuit was fitted into theelectrochemical impedance spectroscopy plots, which indicated the exact corrosionmechanism in all samples
